Week Three
We landed in Los Angeles last Sunday evening. At that time we were informed we could only leave the Viking Star on a cruise sanctioned excursion. That was fine but I, and a fellow passenger, had dentist appointments via the port officer. That was ok, but we had to meet federal zero passenger inspection before we could leave the port. Luckily, I brought our paperwork for the dentist with me when we left the ship for reentry back on board as continuing passengers. We were able to get through Customs and found our transfer to the dentist. Only problem was that the dentist could do nothing for our broken teeth. We both would need crowns so now we are carefully watching what we do for the next 4 months. UGH.
USS Iowa docked in port and tours available. Since we had no Viking approved tour we could not walk down to see it.
Many of these rules are LA Port Officer regulations as well as Viking regulations due to Covid.
On Tuesday we took a tour called "Postcard Views of Los Angeles". We visited the music district and went inside the very modern Walt Disney Music Hall. It is beautiful. We also went to the famous Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This was great as our tour guide let us off in front of a Marshall's and a CVS. Since the new itinerary involves Cape Horn and the Strait of Magellan, I needed a much warmer top. Found that and forgot to look for gloves and scarf. Jeff picked up items needed at the CVS. This coming week we will be able to go to a Walmart in Puerto Vallarta to find what we need.

OMG, your poor tooth! Are you in pain? I sure hope this lasts for you. Lovely photos as usual. At least Viking is giving you interesting and beautiful places to see! And looking at your new itinerary, I think you have some truly great places to go! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! Too bad about the dentist appointment. Jody and I have more "crowns"than the British royalty.
